David “Michael” Blackburn, 18, a resident of Stem passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012 at UNC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill.

A native of Granville County, the son of David and Cynthia Satterwhite Blackburn. He was of the Baptist faith, a 2011 graduate of Granville Central High School and employed with National Boiler Service.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 6, 2012 in the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Oxford by Dr. Randy Pittman. Burial will be in South Granville Memorial Gardens in Stem.

Surviving other than his parents are a sister, Michelle B. Bailey of Oxford, his grandparents, Steve and Ruth Satterwhite, his grandfather, Lambert Blackburn, a nephew, many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Jo Carolyn Blackburn.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 – 8:30 PM, Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times at the home.

I will forever be thankful for Our Precious Lord leading Michael into our lives. He took Blake under his wing along with the other ERB's and befriended him when Blake was a Freshman. Michael was my son too from then on. He had his own special spot for fishing at our pond. Thats, where I remember his big smiles. Boy, could he ride a 4 wheeler! We miss and love you, Ride Forever Batman!

i am so so sorry for the loss of Michael.He was a wonderful young man that always put a smile on everyones face and i will always remember that beautiful smile he shared and that laughter.Michael touched so many lives and during this tradegy he brought so many people togather,he was a special kid.He is now smiling down upon us from heaven wrapped in the arms of our Lord and Saviour.

Memories are so precious. I remember you as Homecoming King, escorting Sierra to the Prom, walking in the door with your ball cap most of the time at an angle, dark socks and sandals, eating Shrimp burgers, piling your plate with food at the beach, laughing around the dinner table, teasing Sierra, Cool and Trent and so many more wonderful times, Our heart hurts for your family and Sierra.

Come and see what our God has done, what awesome miracles he performs for people.~ Psalm 66:5, NLT God's mircles are not always the miracles we are praying for but Michael Blackburn caused many miracles by being an organ donor. Praying for those miracles going forward and for the peace it may bring Michael's family and Eva Joyner.
