A beloved husband, and father of two sons, David Gitelman lived in Dallas, Texas during the last 12 years of his life. It was there that he met his wife, Maxine, and the couple started a family. David had two older brothers, one younger sister, and three cousins who were raised in his home like brothers when their parents died in a flu epidemic in 1920 in Russia. He met his wife, Maxine, after moving to Dallas around 1950, and the couple had two sons. A gentle, soft-spoken man of great intelligence and ability, his sons David and Damon recall his humor, although they were only children when he died. He was an early reader of MAD magazine, and always had something clever and witty to say when a difficult situation arose. He was known for his poise and composure, as well has his refined wit and ability to make others laugh. All who knew him recall a refined wit and sense of humor, a very personable man of great kindness and courtesy.

My grandmother, Mary (Crammer) Gitelman, raised three wonderful sons (Phil, Aaron, and David), and a beautiful daughter (Esta). Her many grandchildren remember her with much love in their hearts.

David Gitelman's business, Longhorn Camera Exchange, was well-known and respected by camera enthusiasts in Dallas. I hope to demonstrate the courage and ingenuity that made his store so successful.
