Her Life

Wife, Mother, Enterprenauer

July 18, 2012

Desney was married to Benjamin Butler for over 35 years and 5 sons, Wayne, Benjamin, Dwight, Alfred and Anthony.  Many grandchildren & great-grandchildren.When he passed she missed him but took every opportunity to fulfill some of her dreams.  She operated a before and after care program for children because she was good at it and loved being a teacher.  She disciplined, she taught, and she cared for them with love.

She wanted to be a fashion designer so she showed it in everything she wore.  She also showed her talents in the way she designed her home. She loved being in her home which was a showplace.  She was always buying things to wear or for the house and would say that it was what she enjoyed doing most.

She traveled with friends and family and got to see a lot of the world on cruises and flying to other destinations.  Her life was full of happiness. I am so happy to have known her and been a part of her life.

Meeting Her and Loving Her

July 18, 2012

I met Ma (Desney) in the late 1980's when I was dating her son Alfred.  As the years moved forward and we became very close friends we loved each other like true family.  I was her daughter and I loved spending time with her.  She was funny, candid and always truthful about what she felt.  Ma was a no-nonsense person when it came to giving advice.

We traveled, shopped, dined and we had many enjoyable dinners, and talks that lasted for hours.  She was a Fashionista-Diva and she was always dressed to the nines.  I can't remember her ever not being dressed from head to toe. She loved family, and she was generous with her love.  What a wonderful person to have known and loved.

I will always remember how she loved me and how she always treated me like a birth daughter.  She was my friend, my companion, and my Mother.  She is sorely missed.  So often I hear her in my ear and I smile.  Missing you Ma and loving you dearly.

Always, Terri
