Franklin Douglas Daams, 51, End of Watch, Wednesday Sept. 20, 2006. After a valiant, yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer, Doug was called home to be with the Lord.

Memorials - In lieu of flowers, Doug asked that donations be made to the Building Fund of Silver Creek United Methodist Church, 2200 Church Road, Azle, Texas, 76020. 

Doug was born April 9, 1955 in Mesa, Arizona. Upon graduation from Pascagoula High School in Mississippi he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era as a Military Police Officer. After an Honorable Discharge from the military, Doug served for 12 years on the Ocean Springs Police Department and Department Veteran Affairs in Mississippi as a Detective and Narcotics Agent. 

He moved to Texas and married his best friend, Evelyn, in 1989. That same year, Doug joined the Federal Bureau of Prisons at FCI Fort Worth. He served as a Correctional Officer and Counselor and was a member on the Special Operations Response Team, Firearms Training Team and Hostage Negotiation Team. 

Doug was an avid bass fisherman, and was a member of the Big Spring B.A.S.S. Club. He loved hunting and enjoyed yearly elk hunts with his brother Dave and Father in Idaho. Doug was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Azle Masonic Lodge. 

His family would like to thank Dr. Varadhachary and Dr. Marshall Morrison, all of the staff at M.D. Anderson Medical Center and Harris Methodist Northwest, all of the employees of F.C.I. Fort Worth and V.A. Outpatient Clinic, Compass Hospice and the members of Silver Creek United Methodist Church for their incredible support, compassion and faith.         

Survivors - Doug is survived by his wife Evelyn Daams, parents Fred and Shirley Daams of Canon City, Colorado, brother David Daams of McCall, Idaho, his children Emily and Jessica of Azle, Danny and Dustin of Ocean Springs, Mississippi and a host of cherished friends and loved ones. 

Celebration of life – Visitation will be at Biggers Funeral Home in Lake Worth from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday with a Memorial Service following at 3 p.m. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Silver Creek United Methodist Church in Azle with burial services following at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
