His Life
December 11, 2012

Born in Bridgeport, CT in 1942 to Robert Lynden Taylor and Vivian Elvira Moore, Edward joined his older sister Janice (Moore) Moseley in the family home located at 579 River Road, Shelton, CT. Young Eddie loved the outdoors, raising rabbits and fishing in the Housatonic River. He attended Sunnyside Elementary School and Shelton High School where he made some lifelong friends.

After high school Ed married Patricia Chilly and started his family. His first born was a daughter, Teresa Marie (Moore) Woods was quickly followed by his name sake, Edward Lyndon Moore, Jr. During these early years Ed provided for his young family while working at U.S. Motors.

Ed’s life transitioned a few years later and he married his current wife Joan Karen (Plumier) Moore.  His family then grew to include another daughter, Leslie Elizabeth (Moore) Linfield and a son Gregory Moore.  The now complete family traded the city life for the rural existence found in Oxford, CT.

Discovering he had a talent for fixing automobiles, Ed began working as a mechanic  in Ansonia, CT. Never one to settle he and his wife purchased their own business in 1971. Route 67 Mobil was located in Seymour, CT.

Always a generous man, Ed would routinely allow his less fortunate customers to run tabs and make payments for the services he provided. This allowed many families to have safe vehicles and secure employment.  Through the years many have told family members how grateful they were for his generosity and kindness.

Retiring from the business in 1993, Ed was not one to just stay home. He continued to work small part time jobs which allowed him to use his mechanical skills and abilities. He also found a love for gardening and began a two decade long hobby which supplemented many a table.

Looking to be closer to family, Ed and Joan moved to Lincoln, DE in 2007. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them about gardening, fishing and fixing things.

After a  year long  battle with lung cancer, Ed as in his own words “went home” peacefully on Saturday, December 8, 2012 while surrounded by his loving family.
