Mrs. Mary Emma Sands Lindsey, the daughter of the late Rosie Lee Sands was born February 22, 1922 in Harris County, GA. She departed this earthly home on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at her residence.

 

“Emma” ,as she was known to most, accepted Christ as her Lord and Saviour at an early age and united with the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Joe Fitzpatrick. Emma served as a usher and was always standing on her post.

 

Emma was employed by Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Tillery for many years. She was an avid gardener and she was very fond of children. Her daily life consisted of watching her favorite Soap Operas and cooking for her family and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by, one sister, Anna Sands Hall, three brothers, Tom Sands, Leroy Sands and George Sands, and a granddaughter, Jacquelyn Sands.

 

Emma leaves to cherish her precious memories: a loving and devoted daughter, Anna Mae Sands, West Point, GA; one sister, Elizabeth S. Walker, Valley, AL; three grandchildren, Michael Sands, LaFayette, AL; Jeffery Boyd, Lithonia, GA; Lacey S. Ward, LaGrange, GA; six great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, including one that she reared as her own, Tony L. Sands, West Point, GA; one sister-in-law, Ruby Sands, Louisville, KY, a host of other relatives and friends; special friend,

Mrs. Helen Hurst, and “Koky” the family pet.
