Her Life

A native of Stewart County, Lumpkin, GA., She was the daughter of the late Hubbard and Irene Lee Hardwick. Residing in Columbus most of her life, she retired as a Dessert Chef for the Muscogee County School District, her last tenure being at Eastway/Rothchild Schools. A very devout member of Greater Peace Baptist Church, she was active with the Deaconess Ministry, Vocal and Senior Choirs, Culinary Committee, General Missionary Society and served as President of the St. Mary's Road Mission.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence Latimer; three siblings, Hubbard Hardwick, Jr., Willie Mae Johnson, Ozella Hardwick; and her son-in-law, Samuel French, Sr.

Surviving are two daughters, Mahalia French and Synthia Jenkins(Dwayne); four grandchildren, Kenyatta French(Twania), Samuel French, Jr.(Raven), Cheryl Elder(Phillip) and Chandra Jones(Ronald); seven great grandchildren;two sisters, Clara Hampton and Lula Bell Crawford; in-laws, Otis Latimer and Annie M. Latimer; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
