Her Life
March 14, 2015

Mrs. Hester was born in Mount Vernon, Georgia on May 11, 1916, the daughter of the late Rosa Emma Hughes Price and Dennis William Price. She married the love of her life, Woodrow Hester and enjoyed eighty-one wonderful years with him. She was a wonderful wife and mother who stayed at home with her children until they were grown. Her children praise her for loving them unconditionally. She was always fair, sometimes strict, and taught them the qualities in life that made them the noble adults that they are today. At forty-five she began her formal education to become a Licensed Practical Nurse and was in one of the first graduating classes of the Troup County Technical College. Upon graduation she was employed for nine years at the City-County Hospital in LaGrange, Georgia. The professional and caring manner with which she cared for patients earned her the nick name of “Dr. Hester” among the senior doctors and nurses. She then became a much sought after Private Duty Nurse, caring for the patients who had come to love and respect her through her association with the hospital. She was a very kind person who gave generously to anyone she saw in need. She will long be remembered by all the lives she touched with her love and devotion.

She is survived by two daughter, Patricia Hester Daniel Overton (Paul Overton) of Franklin, GA., and Judy Hester Fundom of LaGrange, GA.; one son Billy Hester of Franklin, GA., two sisters (her twin), Ernestine Clark of Jesup, GA., and Margaret Hester of Forsyth, GA.; one brother, Douglas Price of Macon, GA. Thirteen grandchildren, Tappy Oliver, Cindy Oliver, David Oliver, Larry Oliver, Suzanne Bryan, Jeff Hester, Paige Worthy, Shannon Daniel, Brent Daniel, Greg Greene, Lynn Sherrod, Denise Bryan, and Lisa Sweet; twenty great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.

Other than her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Ann Oliver; son, Woodrow “Jack” Hester, Jr.; two daughters-in-law, Linda and Marie Hester; and two sons-in-law, Roy Oliver, Sr., and Donnie Daniel; one grandson, Grant Hester; and one great-grandson, Carson Greene.
