I'll never forget the first time I met Felix at Tracks nightclub in Ybor City. I was in what they called the video bar where they had drag shows and played music videos on the large screens. I was standing off to the side by myself as it was like my second time going to the club, and everything was so new to me. I was clearly uncomfortable. I remember him walking into the room with a few people and making the rounds talking to everyone. As he started to walk by me, he stopped and complimented me on my earrings. It caught me by surprise but made me feel completely at ease as I'm sure was his intention. From that moment on, we became good friends. He had a larger than life personality. Sadly, we had lost touch with each other over the years. I only recently learned of his passing by searching his name online. You will be sorely missed, my friend.
When I get where I’m going on
The far side of the sky
The first thing that I’m gonna do
Is spread my wings and fly.
Gonna land beside a lion,
run my fingers through his mane.
Or might find out what it’s like
To ride a drop of rain.
When I get where I’m going
I’ll leave my heart wide open
I will love and have no fear.
When I get where I’m going,
Don’t cry for me down here…..
