Order of the Eastern Star

Frances was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, dedicated to Truth, Charity and Loving Kindness.

The Order of the Eastern Star is Freemasonry-related fraternal organization open to both men and women. It was established in 1850 by lawyer and educator Rob Morris, a noted Freemason. The order is based on teachings from the Bible,[1] but is open to people of all religious beliefs. It has approximately 10,000 chapters in twenty countries and approximately 500,000 members under its General Grand Chapter.

Frances May Emblin, age 99, passed away peacefully at 9:10 am Friday, October 17, 2014. 

On December 10, 1914 Frances was born in Detroit to the late Arthur and Myrtle Mills.  She married Fred Emblin on May 19, 1934, and after 50 years of marriage, he died on April 11, 1985. 

Surviving Frances are two daughters:  Marlene (John) Dooling of Milford, MI, and Cristie (Doug) Morse of San Jose, CA, and brother Roger (Joanna) Mills.  Frances is preceded in death by her husband Fred, sisters Gladys Mitchell and infant Doris, and great-grandson Dean Dangleis.

Frances was affectionately known as “Papa” to her:

8 grandchildren, Deborah (Don) Danko, Kim (Bill) Dangleis, Cindi (Jeff) Curry, Donald (Betty) Rhoten, John Dooling Jr., Michele (Cory) Oogjen, Nicole (Ed) Dziuba, and Brett (Jennifer) Morse,

13 great-grandchildren, Billy (Brittany) Dangleis, Kelly (Roy) Moriarty, Nick (Lynda) Curry, Ian Curry, Samantha Rhoten, Makayla and Madison Oogjen, Brooklynn Baldock, Olivia, Abigail and Jackson Dziuba, Sierra and June Morse, and

5 great-great-grandchildren, Baily and Bradley Dangleis, Kaylee and Kadence Moriarty, and Colin Curry.

Following retirement after many years as a nursery school teacher in Southfield, she enjoyed reading, playing bridge, playing the piano, entertaining, golf, and her many grandchildren.  Frances was a member of New Creation Lutheran Church in San Jose, and the order of the Eastern Star.

Frances made friends everywhere she went, had a great sense of humor, and made everyone feel like they were the most important person in the world.
