He retired in Fremont, NE in 1998.

Gerald was a member of St. Wenceslaus and St. Patrick's Church.  He belonged to the Dodge American Legion.  Gerald enjoyed farming and later helping his two boys farm.  He, also enjoyed fishing, boating, playing cards, and spending time with friends and family.  He was loved so by his grandchildren as he became known as "Grandpa George."  He called all of them George because he then always had their name correct.  They all loved to tease him and he always teased them back.
