Thinking of you often

April 8, 2021
Isn't funny how people impact your life. I only knew Halie a couple of years when she worked as a student assistant in our Family Medicine department. She was such a pretty girl inside and out. She and I had a routine of chatting every day when she came in to the office. Sometimes our student assistants would come in mid-day to an already busy office, everyone in their offices working away. Halie was such a hard worker, contributing with the same dedication as all of the full-time staff. I always looked forward to chatting with her, and made a point to since it wasn't unusual for the student employees to whisk in and out without being noticed or acknowledged.

I think of you very often Halie. Every time I see a young girl on a skateboard, or a little brown haired student about your size. I always tell our new employees about you, so they know too, you are never forgotten. You were a part of my life albeit brief and I am so thankful you were.

Childhood best friend

April 6, 2021
Halie was the first friend I made in Kindergarten. I remember I was crying at lunch because I wanted to go home and my teacher sat me with Halie and after that we were inseparable until she moved to Florida in the 5th grade. Our moms would buy us matching clothes and all  I got to see her a few times after that when she would come back to Kentucky to visit. I am deeply sorry for all who had to say goodbye to her. She was an amazing soul

Spooky Cabin in West Virginia

December 13, 2014

Relaxing in the hot tub as best we could while staying 5 miles deep in the West Virginia woods.

I had told the kids to keep their shoes close to their beds in case they heard anything to meet me at the car and I would have it running for our escape.

This was about the time the movie 'Its In the Water' came out

I enjoyed kidding with them but did notice they had their shoes by their bed when they went to sleep

Love you always Halie

Halie really enjoyed tubing this day and when her cousin Taylor who is Autistic watched her and Kyra ride, it actually gave him the courage to ride it with Halie.
He would not ride or get in the water until this day.

Of course the tubes are bigger now and tubing is one of his greatest joys.

Thank you Halie and now Taylor tubes on to this day due to your help!!!!

Love You Always

December 12, 2014

This was such a fun trip, even with the creepy cabin we stayed in; how we laughed about our escape route if something creepy came out of the woods. I remember dad would always joke and say Halie was posing for this picture. We had so many fun times growing up, we love and miss you Halie.

Halie and I were laughing about the 90s playlist she made for her drive home for Thanksgiving. I can't get the image of her driving home and rocking out to the songs out of my head. I miss you Halie.
