I had the privilege of serving with Wayne from 1980-1982 at Fort Campbell, KY. I commanded the 63d Chemical Company and Wayne was my 2d First Sergeant. He was by far the best man who held the job. He was a soldier's soldier and I am so sorry he has left us. He has my undying gratitude for a job well done - God Bless you Wayne. COL(R) Bill Forrester

"The Mansions of the Lord"
Words by Randall Wallace

To fallen soldiers let us sing
where no rockets fly nor bullets wing
Our broken brothers let us bring
to the mansions of the Lord
No more bleeding no more fight
No prayers pleading through the night
just divine embrace, eternal light
in the mansions of the Lord
Where no mothers cry and no children weep
We will stand and guard tho the angels sleep
All through the ages safely keep the mansions of the Lord

Lay me down in the cold cold ground
Where before many more have gone
Lay me down in the cold cold ground
Where before many more have gone

Once a year say a prayer for me
Close your eyes and remember me

I'm going to get you honored if it's the last thing I ever do.

All gave some and some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some gave all

I don't have a specific story, Wayne and I were High School friends.  Wayne was always tough, and I believe he was born to be a Soldier.  He is one of my Heroes and will remain in my heart forever. R.I.P. brother, God Bless Your Soul.
