Helen Holmes Hicks, 81, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away at the home of her daughter, Monday, February 11th 2013.
A native of Franklin County, the widow of William Taylor Hicks and the daughter of the late Bruce and Ina Evans Holmes. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and worked at Lee Dyeing in Butner for over twenty years and later worked at Avnet.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 14th 2013 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church by Rev. Keith Williams and Rev. Eddie Mauldin. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving are four daughters, Robbie Manning of Providence, Lynn Moss of Jacksonville, Fla., Betsy Edwards of Myrtle Beach, SC, Sherri Wheeler of Oxford, a sister, Edith Pope of Creedmoor, two granddaughters, three grandsons, one great granddaughter, three great grandsons, longtime companion Maurice T. Whitfield and sister-in-law Elna Holmes. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Carlton Holmes.
Flowers accepted and memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1171 Highway 158, Oxford, NC 27565.
Visitation 12:30-2:00 PM Thursday, February 14th 2013 prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and at other times at the home of her daughter, Sherri Wheeler.
Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford is assisting the Hicks family.
