His Life
August 17, 2012

Mr. Henry Blount began his life journey on September 22, 1929 in Meriwether County, Georgia; and departed this life on Tuesday, August 14, 2012.

He was the eighth of nine children born to Sam & Ellie Mae Blount.  His parents and all of his siblings preceded him in death.

He joined the Zion Hill Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully until his health declined.  Growing up in the early 1930's and 40's he learned early in life that God is our only refuge, and he frequently spoke about “The Good Master”.

He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Frances Ann Tucker on August 20, 1949.  To this union five children were born.

He was known to be a hardworking man with a strong determination to provide for his family.  He spent his early years working in the local Mills, and then went to school to become a long-distance Trucker.  He drove for various Trucking Companies for over 25 years.

After retirement he held several other jobs, but one of his most enjoyable was that of a School Bus Driver for the Meriwether County School System.  Although a strict disciplinarian, he loved the children on his bus, and they grew to love and respect him.  His bus was known for being one of the cleanest and quietest buses in the county, and the students learned to appreciate that.

He had a passion for farming, gardening, and fishing, and would often share the fruit of his labor.  He also loved to share his knowledge along those lines.

He was a “people person” with a strong love for family and friends and he met few strangers.

He will be lovingly missed by his wife, children & their spouses, grandchildren, great-grandchildtren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a host of dear, dear, friends.
