Irvin L. Fox, 89, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.

A native of Granville County, the son of the late Samuel and Minerva Berkowitz. He was the owner-operator of Granville Furniture Store in Oxford for over fifty years.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 9, 2016 in the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Oxford. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Weiss Fox of the home, a daughter, Ellen Fox Combs (Tom) of Oxford, two sons, Kenny Fox (Melinda) of Raleigh, Donnie Fox(Caren) of Marietta, Ga., a brother, Stanley H. Fox (Joann) of Raleigh, four grandchildren , Laura , Erin, Hanna and Rachel Fox and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Frona Evens and brother-in-law Dr. Nathan Evens.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2016 from 9:00-10:45 AM at the Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times at the home of Tom and Ellen Combs.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Granville County Veterans Memorial, 112 Planters Place, Oxford, NC 27565 or ACIM, 634 Roxboro Road, Oxford, NC 27565.

Irv, I so much enjoyed watching you play golf when I was in high school. You had the prettiest golf swing of anyone I ever knew. But, most of all, you were a kind & polite gentleman that us kids looked up to. RIP my friend!!
