Recollections of an Incredible Man
I recall...One time when the Armstrong and the Little family had a picnic on the bank of the South Fork river just across the Roosevelt bridge in Stuart. Dad Little became alarmed out in the river. A snapping turtle had found his toe and became attached to it! That was precisely the time when Mom Little declared that all swimmers should come in. The turtle let go, and his toe recovered just fine...sure was sore for a while though.
...The many nights of the adults sitting at the kitchen table drinking coffee, eating popcorn and playing Pinochle while us children ate popcorn and played a game of "war" out on the porch.
...Mother, Daddy, Mom Little, and Dad Little going to a Halloween party at the Rio Baptist church one year....Mother was dressed as the grim reaper, Daddy was literally dragged in and propped against a hay bale, he was a scarecrow...Mom and Dad Little won the contest...she dressed as a man, and he dressed as a woman...even SHAVED his under arms legs! haha....Mother joked...said (and so did some others) that he made a better looking woman.
...Eating watermellons and having a seed spitting contest at the Crews home place.
...Most of all a man with a huge loving heart, kind words, and a great out-look on life. I thank God he was a part of my life.
