John Lewis Blackwell, 69, a resident of Vance County passed away Friday, December 11, 2015 at Maria Parham Medical Center.

He was the son of the late Edward and Annie Lee Blackwell.

Surviving are his son, Johnathan L. Blackwell and wife Beth of Wallace, a daughter, Joy Bradley and husband Brock of Franklinton, four grandchildren; Courtney and Kurt Faulkner, Daniel Blackwell and Kenly Bradley.

Memorial Services will be held Monday evening at 6:00 P.M., December14, 2015 at Eakes Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford with Rev. Neill Woodlief officiating.

Very sorry to hear of Mr. Blackwell's passing. He fought a good fight. It's very frustrating for us as doctors when there's only so much you can do against cancer sometimes. I'll miss him as a patient. We had some good talks. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I am glad Mr. Blackwell is at rest and in no more pain.
