Johnnie and his brother George took a chance and began a business with "Tom-Mac" building bridges and highway infra-structure all around the 4th largest city in the US, Houston Texas.

Made various excursionary trips across the country doing everything from painting to boilermaker / machine work. Johnnie visited places alone the west coast and Colorado.

Assigned to an amunition and fuel supply patrol was no easy task. Often requiring reporting to the local port authorities they wer ejust delivering "bananas".
