|Let the memory of Kreg be with us forever|
Kreg Allen Kunz, 30, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Sept. 23, 2015. He is the father of Hailey Anderson; beloved son of Kreg W. Kunz and Petrea Allen Kunz; brother of Brandon Allen (Christina) Kunz; uncle of Andrew Parker Kunz, and grandson of Wendell Ray and Verla Marie Kunz and Gerald Mecham and Connie Allen. He also has many aunts, uncles and cousins.
During Kreg’s lifetime, if he was not reaching out to help a family member or friend, he was enjoying the outdoors. As soon as he met someone, he was their friend for life. Kreg became an Eagle Scout in 1998, an achievement for which he and his family were very proud. He was then nominated and unanimously elected by his troop to the Order of the Arrow, which is the National Honor Society of the Boys Scouts of America. To be a member of this society, a scout must exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in his daily life, which is to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.
Throughout Kreg’s life, there were numerous events that demonstrated his compassion for others as well as a willingness to help no matter the situation. His brother, Brandon, remembers being stranded in a broken-down car in the desert with his small son. When Kreg received the call, he dropped what he was doing, purchased the needed parts and fixed the car. He was called “my go-to guy” by his mother because if she needed something fixed around the house, he would figure out how to do it. His father, KW, often received a call on his days off from work with a cheerful offer to help with whatever project he was working on. To his sister-in-law, whom he referred to as his sister, he was a listening ear and a sounding board. To his young nephew, Andrew, he was the favorite uncle who was always willing to spend time with him.
By his friends, Kreg was called brilliant, fun and joyful, but most remember him for his compassion, loyalty and trueness of heart. His Facebook page holds one testimony after the other about the times he was there for each person. One friend posted a quote from Kreg’s favorite series, Dr. Who: “I always rip the last pages out of books. That way, it never has to end. I hate endings.” He graduated from Highland High School in Gilbert in 2003.
Funeral services for Kreg were conducted Friday morning, October 9, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the Safford L.D.S. Stake Center by Brother Floyd Nuttall of the Safford Fourth Ward.
The family received friends Thursday evening, October 8, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Vining Funeral Home and Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., at the Safford L.D.S. Stake Center Relief Society Room.
Kreg was laid to rest in the Mesa Cemetery Saturday morning, October 10, 2015, at 10:00 a.m.

"Kreg had been coming into our store and we got to know him. He was such a nice person, we enjoyed visiting with him.

"Kreg was one of my students. He was tenaciously optimistic and cheerful and maintained that spirit in a less than ideal environment. He was concerned for the well being of others and was always the "Good Scout". Am so sorry for your loss. He left an indelible mark.
