Tributes
Leave a tributeYou were a good friend of the family and a good personal friend growing up. You will be truly missed but never forgotten. You will never really be gone as long as people remember you and talk about the good times they were fortunate enough to spend with you.
You have shocked us all! How does one begin to say what only the heart understands. You were always an amazing friend! Compassionate, loving, a defender of the less fortunate and always kind with your words. A truth to your heart and soul. You hated conflict and wanted to only see the best in people, wanting everyone to share in this thing we call peace and love. You always had my back and I am sure the backs of all those you loved.
We would talk for hours about life, children, God, our hopes and dreams and the causes we both believed in. I guess this means you aren't coming to New Mexico this fall.
Rest in Peace my beautiful friend. Stop in to say "Hello" from time to time, and give us a report on the wonders of the other side! I will always love you! ~Sue Schaeffer

Big Trip Out West
I only got to hear this story once, I'm sure, hopefully, others have heard it before, and may have a better recollection of the details.
"When I was 18, I took a trip out west with three friends," she said, when she learned I was living in Las Cruces, New Mexico. 'I liked Las Cruces," she assured me. I laughed, because Las Cruces 40 years ago was truly a dusty little desert town.
They had all worked together to earn money for the trip and the car was in bad shape, but they had a blast anyway. Including being caught in a desert rain storm.
Her favorite memory from the trip was coming across a store that had cowboy boots on sale for $10 and they each bought a pair. When her and the other girl got tired of the guys they were with, they left them in the mountains somewhere in Utah, and hitchhiked back to town, catching a ride with a Morman family.
I miss her so much.
