Miss Mary was my mother's friend when they were both at the Veranda. I continued to visit her after my mother passed, and then when she went to the Nursing Home. Every week I would stop in for our visit. Even on those days when she wasn't feeling up to par, she was always happy to see me. I miss our visits, and think of her often. I hope Mom and Miss Mary are playing Rook together in Heaven.

Aunt Mary Emily will be in my heart forever. Uncle Richard and she came to Delaware (no, I am still a Southerner to the bone) for my wedding (38 years ago), to visit my Dad shortly after my Mom's funeral (32 years ago), and to my daughter Kelly's church Confirmation (almost 21 years ago).  Although I may not have had daily access to her or Uncle Richard, they were (and will be) always with me. Family is everything!

My husband is a fan of Grape NeHigh soda, which cannot be found in the North. After a visit to Alabama to visit Aunt Mary Emily and Uncle Richard, the following Christmas, a box arrived addressed to my husband from them. When he opened it, there were 24 cans of Grape NeHigh. That is the type of wonderful people they were to me and my family!

My prayers are with all of the family.

I am grateful for Mary Emily's friendship for the last six years. I will miss our weekly visits and her sweet smile and kind nature. She was a good friend to my mother at the Veranda, and a blessing to me after my mother passed. I love you Mary Emily and I hope you and Mom are rook partners in Heaven.

I always remember Aunt Mary Emily with a smile on her face. She always made sure we four kids went to Vacation Bible School each year. Thankfully I was able to interview her years ago when I was in college for a project. She blessed so many people!
