Her Life

Poem used as Closing Prayer at the Celebration of Life Service

March 7, 2012
Life Is But A Stopping Place Life is but a stopping place, A pause in what's to be, A resting place along the road, to sweet eternity. We all have different journeys, Different paths along the way, We all were meant to learn some things, but never meant to stay... Our destination is a place, Far greater than we know. Amen

Fair Candles...read at our mother's Celebration of Life Service

Fair Candles
The first candle represents our grief. The pain of losing you is intense. It reminds us of the depth of our love for you.
The second candle represents our courage...To confront our sorrow, to comfort each other, to change our lives.
The third candle we light in your memory...For the times we laughed, the times we cried, the times we were angry with each other, the silly things you did, the caring and joy you gave us.
This fourth candle we light for our love. We light this candle that your light will always shine as we enter this sad time and share this day of remembrance with family and friends. We cherish the special place in our hearts that will always be reserved for you.
We thank you for the gift your loving brought to each of us.

A Fallen Limb

February 27, 2012
A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says, "Grieve not for me.
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don't worry about falls
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes we're together again –Author unknown

When I'm Gone...by Mrs. Lyman Hancock

February 16, 2012

When I come to the end of my journey
And I travel my last weary mile,
Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned
And remember only the smile.

Forget unkind words I have spoken;
Remember some good I have done.
Forget that I ever had heartache
And remember I've had loads of fun.

Forget that I've stumbled and blundered
And sometimes fell by the way.
Remember I have fought some hard battles
And won, ere the close of the day.

Then forget to grieve for my going;
I would not have you sad for a day,
But in summer just gather some flowers
And remember the place where I lay.

And come in the shade of evening
When the sun paints the sky in the west;
Stand for a few moments beside me
And remember only my best.
