Melvin Tyrone Jackson was born on June 16, 1965 to James and Savannah Fitzpatrick Jr., in Tuskeegee, AL. Growing up in New York, he attended the New York City Public Schools and successfully graduated from Chelsea High School where he played Varsity Basketball.

Melvin gave his life to the Lord at an early age and along with his mother and younger sister, they attended the Who So Ever Will Baptist Church and later True Gospel Tabernacle Church under pastor, Rev. Leroy Benton in the Bronx, New York.

Moving back to Alabama, he worked as a Mental Health Technician at The Bullock County Correctional Facility and transferred to Kilby Correctional Facility where he served as Chaplain until September 2014.

Two of Melvin’s proudest accomplishments were, officiating the wedding of his only child, Christopher Lewis and his wife Yasmin in September 2013 and the birth of his grandson, Jaxon Christopher Lewis this past September.

Melvin was called to the Ministry and became the pastor of Back To God Ministries where he served faithfully until the Lord called him home on December 18, 2014

He leaves to cherish his memory his son Christopher T. Lewis (Yasmin), Jamaica, NY, parents: James and Savannah Fitzpatrick Jr., his sisters Alethea Fitzpatrick, Brooklyn, NY, Veronica Fitzpatrick, Birmingham, AL, Sharon Johnson (Keith), Bronx, NY, two grandchildren: Jonai and Jaxon Lewis, one niece: Keshana Johnson, three nephews: Brandon Curie, Keith X. Johnson and Dion Johnson, one grand nephew, Josiah Johnson. His Aunts and Uncles: Cozette Fitzpatrick, Louvenia Jackson, Dorothy (Samuel) Presley, Minnie (Willie) Thomas, Tommie (Casandra) Blakely, Willie (Maria) Jackson, Billie (Jacqueline) Jackson, Sandra (Frazier) Scott, Linda Bowers, Applnella Sanders, Jerome (Pamela) Jackson, Roland Jackson, Terrence (Carolyn) Sutton, Stanley Holcombs, Walter Fitzpatrick, Callie (Arthur) Jones, Sanders Fitzpatrick, Betty (Ronald) Goshay and Elizabeth Fitzpatrick, along with a host of cousins and friends.
