********************
MICHAEL was born in New York City on January 23rd, 1939. He lived most of his life in New York, Los Angeles, and then in the Palm Springs area. He lived out the last two years of his life near his family in Redding, California.
He attended Boston University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Radio and Television Production.
Michael was born to be an entertainer. He first expressed this gift through his love of music and people. He sang his passion directly to the people around him, touching their hearts in a way that only a true entertainer can do. He wowed audiences worldwide and recorded three albums, including “Michael Allen Sings.” Later in life, Michael extended this tradition of entertaining by being the life of the party, an accomplished story-teller and “the head of the table.” His brother Jeffrey said, “Michael had more friends and life-long ones than anyone I’ve ever known.”
Michael launched his Interior Design career in the 1980’s and designed for luminaries throughout the entertainment industry. He believed that, “A house itself isn’t important… it’s what you do in it and how you give it life. A house is not a home until it is filled with love.” His home reflected that with photos of dear friends and family abundant in every room.
Michael suffered a heart attack on June 1st. He was incredibly well cared for by very capable and compassionate caregivers at Mercy Medical Center and at Windsor Redding Care Center, where he lived. Michael was treated with “Humankindness” at every turn – and his family will be forever grateful. With personal friends over the years that ranged from best friends for over 50 years to celebrities such as Johnny Mathis, Rock Hudson, the Sinatra’s, Bob Crew and many more – some of Michael’s new best friends for the past two years have been the staff and residents at Windsor, especially the “Hole in the Wall Gang.”
On June 12th, 2014 on a full moon, Michael sang his last note in peace and clarity, with his brother at his side. Listen carefully, you might still hear it...
Michael is preceded in death by his mother, Theresa (Teddy) Gluck, and his father, Hyman Gluck. He is survived by his brother, Jeffrey Jon Gluck and his wife, Pam, of Redding, California; his niece, Geneva Foster Gluck of Tucson, Arizona; and by so many good friends that were like family to him.
As you know, Michael loved good food and good company! Friends are encouraged to celebrate Michael’s life by sharing memories of him over a favorite meal with family and friends.

Mr. Allen was deeply loved and will be missed by many. We have been given a hope to see him once again refreshed and rejuvenated. Those promises are found at Job 33:25, Psalms 37:29

I was fortunate to meet Michael while visiting my aunt at Windsor. Michael shared so many wonderful stories pf his life...I was in awe. I grew up in the desert, so we had something in common, but mostly I just enjoyed listening to his incredible stories. He truly was the life of the party and he will be missed. I am so sorry for your loss.
~ Pam Kriner, Palo Cedro, California
Michael was a very special person; he always greeted me with "love your hair"! I don't know if Jeffery ever realized how many people Michael invited to their Thursday lunches away from the facility. Truly, truly enjoyed my time spent with him.

Michael was a regular in my aerobics class in the early nineties. I absolutely loved having him as a friend. He lit up the room when he walked in and made every class that he attended so fun! I have thought about him a lot over the years because he was such a sweet person and such a loyal friend. His personality was larger than life. I never had the opportunity to hear him sing, but I am sure he did it well, as he did everything in life. Godspeed, my friend!!! I hope to see you again someday.

I remember Mr. Allen most fondly. We attended a concert together. Afterwards, we both complained at how poorly the entertainer was dressed. Fondest thoughts, John Holladay

Michael and I went to Junior High together, and I hadn't seen him for 50 years. When we moved to the desert I went to an art opening and who was there, but Michael. Of course being a spontaneous person I yell out Michael Gluck. Michael looks concerned and turns around to say very quietly, "that is not how I am known here". He also says, "Dale Bederson the gal with the pretty cashmere sweaters growing up." There was an immediate rekindling of our old friendship. Rest in peace and keep smiling. Dale

Michael always had such a warm smile, a kind word and a song in his heart. Listening to his music brings me back to these wonderful times. Thank-you Michael for your friendship. Rest In Peace
