Mother Dorothy Compton was born July 9, 1935 in Meriwether County, Georgia to the late Joseph Daniel and Willie White.  She was raised by her step-mother, Mrs. Gertrude Jennings Daniel.  She joined Piney Grove Baptist Church at an early age where she faithfully served until her health failed.

In August of 1953 she joined in Holy matrimony to the late Miles Compton and to this union two daughters were born.

Mother Dorothy departed this life on Friday, November 14, at her home.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Daniel and Joe Lee Daniel and one great granddaughter, Deyonna Martin.

She leaves to cherish her memories two loving daughters, Ernestine (Ulyesse) Compton-Mitchell and Elaine Compton Martin; three grandchildren, Teneka (Anthony) Martin, Deodrick Martin and Monkeila Martin; seven great-grandchilden, Rashawn Martin, Aniya Martin, Antravious Martin, Meosha Martin, Alaina Thompson, Tre’veon Thrash and Brianna Martin; six sisters, Geneva Amey, Anna Daniels, Betty Anthony, Hazel (Chester) Ferrell, Carolyn Daniels and Annette Daniels; one brother, Jesse Daniels; one brother-in-law, Grady Compton; one sister-in-law, Lily Kate Compton; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
