Myrna was united in marriage to John J. Swartwood on September 4, 1953, at the Hillsboro Foursquare Church. They would have celebrated 60 years together this coming September. 
Following their marriage, they made their home in the Hillsboro community until 1965, when they moved to their current home in the Cove Orchard community. Myrna served as co-pastor with her husband John at the Gospel Lighthouse, Pentecostal Church in Cove Orchard. She also played the piano and organ, served as the Christmas program director and director of the food and clothing programs. Along with her husband, Myrna made eleven trips to Mexico, taking food and clothing to those in need and was a part of Team Ken Severson of the National Brain Tumor Society. She was very passionate in helping to find a cure. Myrna also supported the Love a Child Program in Haiti.
She and John raised several foster children together. Some of her special interests were gardening and tending to her flowers. She also had a special love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren
