Taking in the streets of Vancouver for the last time, with his long board and visiting with his friend Stevon. Stevon was his childhood pal, meeting in our neighbourhood when we moved to Revelstoke, Neil had just turned two. Stevon, his brothers and his mother Yolanda lived just up the street. The best of friends, like another brother, another mother.
A week after Neil's tragic fall, his two brothers and cousin felt compelled to retrace his path and set up a memorial. With them they carried Neil's "Woody" kite which flew over many rocky outcrops. They created a cache that would hold a flag and a metal notebox. His shorts still fly over the site. Two weeks before this, Neil and his two older brothers had explored the same peak, mavelled over the showcase of wildflowers in the meadows. Neil had wanted to share this incredible hike with his friends on a weekend of camping. It was a hot Labour Day Monday.

So unfair I don’t understand why you had to go
