On April 24th, 1973 Katy Murray and I started our new jobs at Thompson's where we met a spunky little lady named Norma. Throughout the next several years, Katy and I, my husband Ben, our children Jeff and Justin and my parents Fred and Doris shared many wonderful experiences with Norma. WE REMEMBER -- Her appreciation for music, photography and books, particularly publications about nature and cooking. Her fondness for animals, especially cats, dogs and horses. Her passion for cooking, baking, entertaining, decorating, gardening, sewing and taking classes at St. Clair College. Her sunny personality, radiant smile, spirited laughter, thoughtfulness, kindness, enthusiasm, sense of humor and the joy that she brought to others. Norma's zest for life was evident whether she lived in Ontario or New Mexico. She was devoted to and proud of her family. The many friendships that she made during her lifetime were very important to her. Everyone will have their own unique thoughts and recollections of Norma and treasure the good times that they enjoyed with her. Norma was a remarkable woman who touched and inspired many lives. Our family will miss her dearly and cherish our special memories of her always. Our heartfelt condolences to her family. May your loving memories of Norma bring you comfort and help to keep her close in your hearts forever.

My family (Elizabeth, Sue, Derek, Dave) and I are deeply saddened to learn that Norma is no longer with us. We last saw Norma in November 2001 when she came back to Chatham from New Mexico to visit her brother, Doug. He passed away on October 12, 2003 at age 75. Coincidentally. Norma also passed away at the same age and almost exactly on the same date 12 years later.
Norma was such a warm, friendly person with an infectious laugh and smile, one could not help but like her. I remember memorable family get-togethers and time spent at her lovely home in Erie Beach.
Our heartfelt sympathy and thoughts are with you Peter, Melissa and Hannah.

I have great memories of my wonderful experience with Norma when her and I (and her cat) drove a packed, overloaded Uhaul straight through to NM when she moved back. It was a long trip with lots of sharing of our life stories and we formed a very special bond that I will always cherish. When we arrived in NM, I only spent a few days there but I could certainly see why she chose to spend the rest of her years in such a beautiful place. She was a kind, caring, gentle lady who loved everyone for who they were. Rest in Peace Norma, Love Carol

It happened that Marion and I had a chance to visit Norma last Sunday. We felt privileged to spend some time in her presence at the end of her remarkable life and to share some good memories and good wishes. Over the last few days we have visited many of the places we first saw with Norma and have remembered her in this very special way. One of those places was Tsankawi in Bandolier National Park - we felt your presence Norma - you are an amazing soul - you made a difference - you will be remembered always... with my love, Janet.

"Fifi" was an inspiration to those of us who worked together in Blenheim, ON. I'll never forget her enthusiasm, determination, and empathy for others. A truly unique spirit.

I think what Norma liked best about my dad was that he came with 6 kids!! She was amazing. She treated us all as if we were her own. That says a lot about the type of person she was. Although I only saw her once in the last five years, I still loved her like a mother. I'm sad that she is gone but I'm sure she is in a much better place now.

Request from your spirit

I am requesting assistance from your spirit as Mother Nature guides me through this mental journey to find peace in my heart, and I don't know anyone else who appreciated what she has to offer more than you. Please care for me and hold me in your heart as you always did.

What I remember most about “Grandma Norma” was her smile. She was ALWAYS smiling. She had to coolest little place out by the beach where we would go for visits and sleepovers. We would go for walks down by the beach and she would help us find those glass stones. I will remember her as a beautiful spunky little lady with a really cool style and a huge heart. <3
