Born January 17, 1938, Norman died peacefully November 1, 2015 at the age of 77. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Dale Smith along with children, Randy Smith, Pam (Steve) Morrissey, Rita Melissa Curle, all of Senatobia and Greg Smith of Hernando, MS. He had seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren all of whom loved him very much. "Pappy" was a wonderful husband, father and provider who worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He began working at a very early age doing odd jobs before joining the Air Force. After leaving the service, he worked several jobs before beginning a career at Roadway Trucking in Memphis, TN,, where he retired after 20 years of service. During his time at Roadway he opened Smith's Grocery and Smith's Dairy Farm in Looxahoma and managed all three careers with the help of his family. After selling the store and dairy he later purchased Senatobia Laundry Mat and Senatobia Ice Company and ran each for many years. He loved the Looxahoma and Senatobia communities and made many friends over the years. Work was his hobby as he only wanted to make sure his family was provided and cared for. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 3, at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia followed by services at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Looxahoma Church of Christ Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to Looxahoma Fire Department, Senatobia Fire and Rescue or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
