GRATITUDE

September 2, 2014

I would like to use this opportunity to say thank you for all you words of encouragement, calls, gifts, support, prayers and presence at the funeral of my late husband, Olufemi Shabi.

May The Lord continue to guide, protect and shield all our families from untimely death; and cease all appearances and works of the devil away from our homes and loved ones in Jesus name. May He shower us with His love, favor, grace and mercy in all our dealings and help us make our paths straight in Him.

Femi especially loved to talk to people about his faith and the need for them to have faith in the promises of God in all they do. Many actually thought he was older than he was with the way he handled issues but I believe he would want us to hold on tight to our faith in the Lord whom in His infinite mercies will grant us all joy and peace in our lives and keep us all safe under the shadow of His wings in Jesus name.

Be safe and stay blessed in the Lord.

Sincerely,

Oluseun (Kemi), Ife and Marvelous (Papa) Shabi

My Love By Oluseun Shabi

June 30, 2014

My Love,

Our meeting back in 1994 was a joke which I still laugh about today. You promised your room mates you would become my friend and they were surprised when I showed up at a birthday party of one of your room mates.

Ever since I met you, you always had a passion to help others which was unequalled by any other. My parents fell in love with you when you offered your room on my brother, Gbenga's first day in UI because he could not find any accommodation. They offered money which you rejected. They said they had never seen a generous gentleman as you and since then their home was yours as a friend of the family. They were surprised when I told them for almost six years that there was nothing between us and you were a big brother whom I could confide in with any issue.
You even went as far as settling disputes between my mom and I which always marveled my mom but you always came through.

I didn't think I cared much for you until you travelled back to the US in 1999 and I kept disturbing your friend, Dr Toyce about notes for your exams and telling him to get across to you to return for the exams. He was shocked I cared so much. I couldn't hold myself back when you returned in December, 1999; told you how I felt and you were so surprised because you thought there could never be any relationship except friendship. You even bought me a pair of shoes and I was so surprised you knew my shoe size and still wonder how you knew.
I know you tried so many times in the previous five to six years we knew each other to tell me about your feelings but I told you no on each occasion. I wasn't trying to be difficult.... just careful but you still remained my friend despite your feelings and used to hand make special cards for me which I loved so much.

You insisted we get married before traveling back to the US in November, 2001 after your graduation and you seemed more happy about it than I was because I wasn't sure when I would see you again.

Your first stop when I came into the US in 2004 was Glorious Light Ministries in New Jersey where Late Pastor(Mrs) Babajide blessed us again since we were just starting our union together.

You were overjoyed when we had Ife; spending all your free time watching TV with her; calling her your princess and holding each other tight while sleeping. Marvelous was a surprise and he hid gender until very close to delivery. He is a very emotional child who never stopped telling you how much he loved you. He is growing to be a little copy of you; looks so much like you and I guess that will comfort me.

I will do by best for the kids by the grace of God. I used to complain about you not spending enough time with us but you always told me to be strong and that you pray I will never need help like that. In all your busy schedules you created time to watch educational shows with the kids, challenged them about the answers; take them out shopping, bowling and the movies . It was always fun when you shout out my name to tell me how good they were with their answers.

Your passing was greatly unexpected but I am glad in the Lord that you did not suffer any type of disability before you passed. The kids do understand that you have to rest from all your labors because that's what I explained to them. They are sad that they will miss you but they told me they would be okay and I'm sure that's what you would have expected of them. I pray the Lord will keep us strong till we meet to part no more at the feet of Jesus.

Rest on my love, you deserve the rest. I will always be your "Babe" and you will always be my "Babie". I will forever keep your memory fresh God helping me. I will always tell the kids how wonderful you were and how they have to follow in your footsteps and commit their all to the Lord and live this life placing God first in all they do and giving of their time, love, resources and all to all they come across. That was what you taught us to do and we will continue to do so by the grace of God. You touched the lives of so many people you came across and it became part of you.... just something you had to do without a second thought.

Sleep on my love..... we shall definitely meet again and all your dreams will not die with you by the grace of God.... Amen!!!

Always,

Babe
