Mr. Rutland was born Sunday, September 3, 1939, in Chambers County, the son of the late George Wade and Lenora Wright Rutland. Prior to being disabled by a stroke in 1973, he worked for Valley Chevrolet and Lukken Chevrolet in LaGrange. He was also a licensed electrician. Perry had been a resident of LaGrange Nursing and Rehab since November of 1994. The family would like to thank them and Gentiva Hospice for the special care given to him.
 

Survivors include his brother, George C. (Rochelle) Rutland of Lanett; his nephew, Roger Thompson of Newnan; his nieces, Carol R. (Tom) Bennett of Raleigh, North Carolina, Arlene R. (Leon) Weathers of Lanett, Joan R. (Byrd) Worthy of Lanett, Jane R. (Manuel) Rodriguez of Corpus Christi, Texas and Karen C. (Doug) Lowman of Dallas, Georgia; and several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his sisters, Verbice Crumpton and Vivian Thompson.
