His Life

BIOGRAPHY

(Mr.) Peter Tambe Arrey, known to loved ones as PTA or bro Tambe was born on July 29th, 1956 in Buea of Pa  Martin Mbianyor Arrey and Mami Maria Enowbot Arrey (both deceased). Peter was baptized at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Parish in Buea, where he also attended Catholic primary school. After graduation from primary school in St. Joseph’s Boys’ School, Tiko, he then went to Federal Government Bilingual School (Lycée Bilingue, Buea) where he had his GCE O’Levels.

After his O’Levels, PTA decided to stay in Cameroon and break the family tradition of going abroad for further studies. His business trajectory started when he joined his parents in the exploitation of timber, gravel and stones. He knew how to go around bushes, forest and stone pits. His prowess in business and his ‘caring’ attitude enabled his parents to raise an exceptional large family. He went to the schools and colleges of his younger siblings to deal with behavioural or academic concerns at the expense of his job. In later years he continued rendering his services to the family when he decided to work for General Processors Ltd as one of the top managers and a trusted collaborator of Chief Raymond Etang Arrey.

He met and married Ms. Elizabeth Mbua, who has been unfaltering in her support in times of good health and sickness. In this union, they are blessed with four children – Liengu, Etakebi, Eyong, and Maria. Together they raised their kids based on humility, compassion and FAITH in God.

PTA worked tirelessly to ensure the social and psychosocial wellbeing of his brothers, sisters, cousins, nephews, nieces, uncles and aunts. A phone call to him was enough to get him on the move. He was the Public Relations Officer of the family. He was the Negotiator. Many of his brothers and sisters don’t know the villages or families they married into but he did. He represented the family on most occasions.

PTA was a spiritual and religious man. He became an elder in a church congregation. He learned and taught the words of the Almighty to the end of his days. He took his last breath looking at the bright side of life and just before he drew his terminal breath. He knew that life is absurd and death is the final word. He laughed as he went.

PTA, our memories of love will be of you.
