Mrs. Princie B. Merritt Jackson of Columbus passed Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the Midtown Medical Center. She was 83 years of age and resided at 1470 Ivan Avenue.

A native of Birmingham, AL and the daughter of the late Clifford and Johnnie Vickers Merritt, Mrs. Jackson was born on August 10, 1930. She was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church and was retired from the Muscogee County School System following 10 years as a dietician at S. Columbus Elementary School. She also was employed for over 20 years with the Katz and Grifenhagen families. She served as a member of the Willis Plaza Homeowners Association. Preceding her in death were two sons, Gregory Jackson and Larry Jackson, and two brothers, Homer and Walter Merritt.

Survivors include: her husband, SFC (Ret) Ernest C. Jackson, a son, Patrick W. Jackson; four daughters, Erma C. Wilson (Willie), Princess Loretta Woods (Oscar), Barbara J. Gallon (Frederick) and Karen Jackson; two daughters-in-law, Sherry Jackson and Cheryl Jackson; fifteen great grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; three brothers, Clifford Merritt, Jr., Isaac Merritt and Kenneth Merritt (Tina); three sister, Josephine Ruff-White, Christine Bush and Gwendolyn Tucker; three sisters-in-law, Gloria Merritt, Bernice Merritt and Quinnie M. Merritt; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
