The son of the late Arthur, Sr. and Maude Davis King, Reverend King was born in Colquitt County, GA, and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Cusseta, GA. He was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict, and in 1991 was ordained as a Baptist Minister. He was a former president of the Layman's Board and was a Prince Hall Mason. He retired following 35 years with Civil Services, Ft. Benning, GA, and was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mattie Hollis King.


Surviving are: three sons, George L. King, Jr. (Janice), Darryl E. King and Roderick King (Angela) ; a daughter, Cynthia Gardner Dixon (Sebastian); a special daughter, Gloria Taylor; four grandchildren, Monteia King, Desmond King, Alisha King and Taylor King; three brothers, Rev. R. C. King (Gloria), Julius King and Ulysses King; a sister, Rosie Gardner; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
