August 10, 1962 was a Friday, the day my sweet Bobby was born. I called him Bobby, but he was named after his Father, Robert Richard Carlson Jr.  I remember only being in labor for just an hour, he was in a hurry to come into the world. Bobby was born at 8:59am at the base Hospital, Camp Lejune in North Carolina. Bobby's sister, Sue who was just 18 months older than him, could not say brother so she called him Buddy, which is where he got the name Buddy from, which as he got older became shortened to the name "Bud".
