Biography
Robert Wayne Merrill
Old Orchard Beach- Robert Wayne Merrill, Sr., 69, of Beach Plum Avenue, formerly of Freeport, passed away on September 1, 2008 at his residence. Robert was born on December 12, 1938, in Kennebunkport, a son of Edgar and Virginia (Beal) Merrill. Bob attended Kennebunk schools and worked at Keslyn School. He married his loving wife,, Veronica (Marie) Leavitt, on December 10, 1960. He worked for Central Maine Power for 33 years at the W.F. Wyman Station on Cousins Island before retiring. . Anyone who knows Bob will always remember his smile and how happy he was. He loved going on rides on his Harley . He will be missed by many people. Bob was a member of the Eagles Club, #804.
He was pre-deceased by his parents; his sister, Nancy Smart; two sons, Clint Merrill and Michael C. Merrill.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Veronica (Marie) Leavitt Merrill; sons, Robert Merrill, Jr. and his wife Susan, Stephen Merrill and his wife Amy, Mark Merrill and his partner Kate; daughters, Veronica Wiest and her husband Zac, Shannon Merrill; daughter in-law, Wanda Merrill. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. The Merrill family would like to thank Beacon Hospice, especially his nurses’ Karen and Susan. Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 on Thursday at Lindquist Funeral Home, 1 Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, where a funeral will be held at 11 AM on Friday. The Reverend Philip Shearman will officiate. A private burial will take place in Freeport.
