The son of the late Tom, Jr. and Mary Dixon Pied, Mr. Pied was born in Julia, GA and was a 1958 graduate of the William H. Spencer High School, and obtained a B.S. Degree from Southern Illinois University. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of 30 years who was proud to have served two tours of duty in Vietnam and one in Korea. He also retired as an employee with the State of Arizona where he resided for over 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Vera Avery Pied, and two siblings, Lessie and Jessie Pied.

Surviving are: three sisters, Gladys Jones, Mattie Brown (Eddie) and Julia Pied; two brothers, Johnny Pied and Jimmy Pied (Betty); two step children, Richard Avery and Simone Woodard (Carl); a devoted sister-in-law, Rosa Lucas; devoted friend, Woody Lawson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, and friends.
