His Life
October 4, 2012

Ruben Nils Johnsson passed away on Tuesday October 2, 2012 at the age of 78 at the Heritage Nursing Home in Findlay.

He was born in Stockholm, Sweden on September 16, 1934 to John A. and Elsa E. Johnsson. After graduating from high school he immigrated with his family to Toronto, Canada in 1953.  He worked as a draftsman in Canada until 1972, when he met and married his beloved wife Grace in Kintore, Ontario. They moved to Findlay, Ohio shortly after marriage.

One of Ruben's greatest joys in life was music.  He will be remembered by many as a praise and worship leader accompanied by his wife, Grace, on the piano.  Music made him happy and gave him peace.  He was an accomplished tenor soloist who could have sung professionally.  His children will always remember him singing his favorite songs at the top of his lungs along with his favorite singers, Evie, The Three Tenors and Carl-Erik Olivebring.  Their love talent and love for music was an inherited gift from Ruben which will forever be cherished.

Ruben cared about people and always had time to stop, talk and listen, share his faith, and encourage others. He celebrated 40 years of marriage with his wife shortly before passing away. He was passionate about many things, including his family, the Bible, music, politics and soccer.

He is survived by his wife Grace; daughters, Rachelle (Luis Chiang) of Apex, NC, and Renee (Barry Travis) of Big Pine Key, FL; four grandchildren Adrian, Elise and Andres Chiang and Austin Travis; two brothers, Perry Johnsson of Martinsburg, WV and Spurgeon Johnsson of Vancouver, British Columbia; one sister, Racheal Gungner of Van Nuys, CA; and many nieces and nephews.

Ruben is preceded in death by his sister Ruth Hegyeli.

A memorial service will be held in Findlay, Ohio at College First Church of God on November 3, 2012 at 2:30 pm.
