His Life

The son of the late Mr. Fred French, Sr. and Mrs. Willie M. Little French McMillian, Mr. French was born in Birmingham, AL on November 1, 1943. He was a 1962 graduate of Hooper City High School in Birmingham, and also attended Morris Brown College. He was retired from U. S. Air Force and Civil Services, Ft. Benning, GA with over 20 years of service. A dedicated member of Greater Peace Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon, Superintendent of the Sunday school, Youth Advisor and with the Choir. He was also a member of the Mt. Calvary Association and served as Troop Leader of the Boy Scouts. He was preceded in death by brother, Douglas M. French, Sr.


Survivors include: his wife of 35 years, Mrs. Mahalia Latimer French; two sons, Kenyatta French (Twania) and Samuel French, Jr. (Raven); two daughters, Chandra French and Cheryl French-Elder (Phillip); six grandchildren, one great grandchild; Fred French, Jr. (Yvonne), Willie P. French (Cynthia), Henry E. French and Danny French; six sisters, Queen Esther Jones, Maggie E. French, Geraldine Moon (Arthur), Hattie French, Henrietta Ward and Tammy Battle; his step mother, Mrs. Willie M. French; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Ethel Latimer; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving in-laws, and friends.
