This poem was handwritten by Sandra Stahman in December, 2011. It was found on her desk and read the in English and Spanish at one of the memorial celebrations of her life on September 28, 2014, what would have been Sandra’s 77th birthday. We are sharing it here in both languages.

 

 

Este poema fue escrito a mano por Sandra Stahman en diciembre de 2011. Se encontró en su escritorio. Leemos el poema en Inglés y Español en la celebración de su vida el 28 de septiembre de 2014, lo que habría sido 77 cumpleaños de Sandra. Por solicitud, que se está enviando en los dos idiomas.

 

 

Moment of shimmering allure

Dancing in the heavens

Then -

Darkness!

The old woman with a pointed chin-

Stooped back-

One gray hair

curling upward from

her chin-

The flower on her

straw hat-

Once bright red -

now faded pink-

Determined-she

leans on her walking stick-

And trudges to

the market.

 

 

 

 

Momento de reluciente attractivo

Bailando en los cielos

Luego-

Obscuro!

La anciana con una barbilla puntiaguda encorvada-

Con un pelo bucle de gris

se encrespa hacia arriba desde

su barbilla

La flor en la sombrera rojo brillante

Hace much tiempo

Ahora rosada-

Con fuerte---ella

se apoya en su bastón

Y paseo largo y cansada al

mercado.
