One Amusing Night 2007
Several months before Sebastian’s passing I took him out for dinner on a Friday night.
Early in the evening we went to the Provincial hotel which is on the corner of Brunswick and Johnson Streets, Fitzroy.
We were lucky enough to get a table near the fire place.
We enjoyed a lovely meal and a few drinks and exchanged funny stories of our lives.
In particular we laughed about our common love for the TV series “The Sopranos”.
We also talked about our common interest in business and the share market.
I remember feeling that it would be great if one day he and I could develop a business together.
After the dinner we meandered down a nearby street to the “Red Triangle”.
We climbed the rickety staircase, laughing about how we might fall through the dilapidated steps.
On the top floor of the building we walked into the dark opening to the pool hall.
The place was fairly empty save for a group of boys and girls of Sebastian’s age.
These kids were loud and obnoxious. I noted to myself the difference between them and Seb.
Seb was always respectful and quiet around adults.
We had about five rounds of pool. I think he beat me each time.
I didn’t mind as I knew Seb wasn’t the sort of person to boast about it.
That night, unfortunately, was only one of the few times we went out together.
How I regret not doing that more often.
