Susan Verleen "Susie" Magoon Burbridge, age 60, of Asbury, Mo., passed away at 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at Freeman West Hospital after a sudden illness. Born June 9, 1953, in Webb City, Mo., she graduated from Carl Junction High School and was a lifetime area resident. For much of her working life, she was a school bus driver for Carl Junction, Cassville and Aurora. Most recently, she drove the Sunshine Trolley and MAPS Buses for the City of Joplin. Susie was also a licensed beautician, operating Susie's Hair O'Fair from her home. An animal lover, Susie bred and sold dogs and was a talented horseback rider, having performed with rodeo drill teams. She was an exceptional vocalist and guitarist. On Oct. 2, 1998, she married Keith Burbridge, at Eureka Springs, Ark. He survives. Additional survivors include two sons, Dusty and Seth Magoon, both of the home; her mother, Margaret Louise Smith, of Joplin; her brother, Clint Smith and wife, Carrie, of Jasper, Mo.; her sister, Janice Reynolds and husband, Gary, of Joplin; two grandchildren, Tristan and Baylee Magoon; a sister-in-law, Barbara Smith, of Asbury; a stepdaughter, Rachel Burbridge and a stepson, Ryan Burbridge, both of Springfield; a step grandson, Landon Burbridge; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her father, Verl C. Smith; her brother, Leroy Smith; and a niece, Julie Fry.
