His Life

A wonderful Man

Theodore Sherman Foster Jr., of Peoria, Arizona passed away at age 69 on July 9, 2015 after a fight with lung cancer.

Ted was born to the late Theodore Sr. and Catherine Foster, in Cameron, Missouri, on January 11, 1946. His family relocated to Colorado where Ted grew up and followed in the footsteps of his father and became an electrician, until he enlisted with the army. After serving his country, he returned to Colorado before moving to Arizona to work for the City of Phoenix, Street Transportation Department. Never one to let the grass grow beneath him, Ted retiring from the City after 21 years and began his own commercial sign installation business, Global Sign Works, where he worked until his death. His diligence, hard work, and integrity were an inspiration to all worked with him.

Ted was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend, Helen Foster, on November 29, 1980 in Lakewood, CO. Ted helped raise his four children with patience, discipline and encouragement. He taught them to believe in themselves and follow their passions, and that his faith in what his children could do was unlimited. He spent many early weekend mornings on the softball field teaching, encouraging, and supporting and doing the same in his professional career. He was always there for his friends and family, ready to help at a moment’s notice. He was truly a man of unconditional love and support.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Ted is survived by his wife, Helen Foster; his children, Tyrel Foster, Theodore Foster, Wendy Foster, and Sara Fischer; his grandchildren, Damian, Donovan, Dominic, Gracie, Madison, Ashlyn, Liam, and Adrian; and his sisters, Bev Williams, and Mary Lee Hamisch.

A memorial service will be held at Lincoln Heights Church, 2121 E Lincoln Drive, Phoenix at 5:30 p.m. on July 14th. Pastor Tony Cruz will officiate the service. The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation to the American Cancer Society (https://donate.cancer.org/index) would be appreciated.
