THOMSON THOMBO CONTE was born at Kamabai, Limba Berewah Chiefdom, Northern Province, Sierra Leone.

He was educated at Wesleyan Mission schools in Kamabai and Gbendembu.  He attended the Bunumbu Teachers Training school to be a teacher, but later decided to work in law enforcement.  He obtained his training at the Sierra Leone Police Training School and later went to London in 1974 for further training.  He loved his job, which took him to all the provinces in Sierra Leone.  He retired at the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police and moved to the United States.

He stayed in the United States with his children for many years, and decided to return home in 2006.  He often returned to visit his children and grandchildren. 

A very religious man, he was a longtime member of Word of Life Church in Springfield, Virginia. His favorite book is the Bible.

Thomson Thombo Conte  died Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Makeni, following a brief illness. survived by his wife Mary Gardi Conte (Kamara); two daughters -- Etta Baby (Conte)Toure and Mabinty Conte; five sons -- Moses, Salfu, Patrick, Abdul and Thomson, Jr.; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews around the world; and many close friends.
