His Life

Vernon

April 18, 2016

My dad...Vernon Andrew Garrett. There is so much to be said and written and remembered about him. But where do I begin. I only knew him for 31 years, and I am so grateful for those years, having him as my daddy. He was the best dad that he could be. He was always there for us, my sister and I, as we grew up, always teaching whenever he could. He was kind and taught us to be kind and mindful of others, but also that we each live our own lives and make our own decisions.
My dad loved his family so much. He was the youngest of eight kids, and I always knew that he was special to his siblings. They all loved each other but he was a magnified force within them.  He tried his best to keep in contact with all of his brothers and sisters as they grew apart and raised their own families.
My daddy was so proud of his children and grandchildren. There were only two of us, two girls, but he loved us unconditionally. He did the best he could for us. He always had a job, so that he could provide for his family. He used to tell us that he even worked as a garbage man once, although he didn't like it, but he knew he had to pay bills and feed his family.
My dad is the one of the best people I ever knew. His memories live on in every thing I do. Every moment of every day, I think of him. I am blessed to have had him in my life and in the lives of my  daughters. He taught me life.
