The Will To Love
From the moment I met Will (back in early 1998), I felt we established a great trust and friendship. I have nothing but great memories of Will. I worked with him on several songs from 1998 to about 2003. I was always impressed with Will’s professional ability to collaborate and creatively transform a rough or basic idea into a complete song (which is not easy to do). However, on a more personal level, Will was the kind of person who always made me feel comfortable in or out of a recording environment, allowing me to put my guard down, and making it easy for me to be me. I clicked with Will’s personality from the very beginning because he transmitted an aura that made my environment easy going. He always had positive advice for me and the confidence in his delivery was always comforting and reassuring. Will was simply the kind of person who ALWAYS had my back no matter what...
It saddens me beyond words to know that within recent years, my everyday life (which I thought to be a busy life) distorted my sense of time. My daily schedule (routine) distracted me from reaching out and connecting with Will on a more frequent basis. My disconnect blinded me and prevented me from ever imagining (let alone considering) a worst case scenario. At this point in time, any "could haves", "would haves", or "should haves", are too late – as time waits for no one. My heavy heart finds comfort and trust in the Lord, knowing that Will is now resting in Heaven. However, as I am still in the flesh and moving forward with this recent heartfelt loss, I sincerely feel that for those of us who are still on this God given planet and blessed with time remaining, we should not take one of our most precious resources (time) lightly. If we do the math, we will learn that we are all blessed with an exact amount of 86,400 seconds each and every day. How do we really spend that time? Unlike money, time is non-refundable. Once it’s gone, it’s gone forever with absolutely no exceptions. This is why I think it is so important to give it an extra effort to stay connected with those who are good to us, good for us, and genuinely in our lives, no matter how busy we are (or think we are). Social media is great for those of us who are communicating from a long distance. However, the unfortunate thing is that social media does not always reveal the truth or the reality of someone's life. This is why it's important to take some of that precious time and make an effort to connect with one another in person. Only then can we truly interact, read one's body language, understand, and really connect with them. Everything man makes, breaks. Everything God makes, dies. This is a fact of life. So, I encourage us all to make each and every second count when making that human connection. After all, those non-refundable seconds in time won’t last forever – and that’s a fact too...
With all that said, below is a link to a song I had the pleasure and privilege of producing for Will back in 2003. The name of the song is called "Fuego". It's an uplifting, Merengue, Latin-fusion, worship song. Comparing this recording from 2003 to some of Will's more recent live performances and recordings, you can hear how much Will grew and matured in his form of expression and performance over the years. However, even back in the day, Will had the pipes that could blow anyone away. His voice, energy level, charismatic nature, and Godly enthusiasm is definitely evident in this recording. In addition, you will hear Will’s bilingual skills in this recording too.
