William “Bill” Starnes, 80, passed away Monday, November 17, 2014 at his home.
A native of Granville County he was the son of the late Charlie and Rosa Starnes. He pastored for many years and had a radio spot on Sunday Mornings where he preached and touched many people’s lives. He was owner and operator of Bill’s Asphalt Maintenance for over thirty years.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Riverside Baptist Church in Durham by Rev. Jim Jones and Rev. Aubrey Florence. Burial will be in Meadowview Memorial Park in Oxford.
Surviving are his wife of twenty years, Donna Boyd Starnes of the home, three daughters; Vickie McFarland (Ernest), Shelia Grissom and Regina Kingsley all of Henderson, two step-children; Michael West of Henderson and Aimee Boyce (Sherwyn) of New York, twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a sister, Beatrice Hayes of Oxford. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Grace Starnes, a brother, Tommy Starnes and a grandson, Jeffery Crawford.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:30 P.M. at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times the home.
Flowers are accepted or memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
