I remember you today for that singular act, May Allah SWT continue to grant you that eternal rest that you deserved.
I know you are under the shade of Almighty Allah SWT.
Rest on Brother; Abdul Hakeem olatunji Sodeke.
“Young age never stopped you from having big dreams and goals. Now as we mourn your departure, we know that whatever you set in mind you accomplished. You were bright and intelligent, and we know that God has you in His glory. Rest in peace dear friend."
Akeem was born on June 12, 1971 to a devout Muslim family in Ogun state. His father was Egba and mum is from Ijebu-Ode. Akeem studied Economics at the Lagos State University and obtained an MBA from the University of Uyo. He carried out his NYSC in Akwa Ibom State. Akeem also went through the strategic supply chain leadership program of the Ontario Supply Chain Management Association (Canada) and qualified as a certified supply chain management professional (CSCMP)
He was an enterprising and self-driven young man who lost his father in his first year in the University. He was undeterred and had to work hard to see himself through school and graduated with Honors. He was recruited by the defunct Century Merchant Bank right from the NYSC orientation camp. He joined the Mobil Producing Nigeria Procurement department in 1998 and excelled in all responsibilities he was assigned. Akeem had a very big appetite for learning and hard work. His work day typically started at about 6.30am and finished at 8.00pm. He accomplished quite a lot in his short sojourn on earth and rose to through the ranks to become Manager, North West Supply Chain for Mobil Producing Nigeria.
Akeem was a dedicated family man. He had very high hopes and plans for his family and took their welfare very seriously. He spared no cost to train his kids and would often push them hard to achieve their potentials.
Akeem was a devout Muslim who strived to be a great ambassador of the faith. He was a very fair minded individual who strived to be equitable in all his deeds. We will all miss his gentle mien, friendship and his kindness. May his soul rest in peace.
I met Tunji in 1995, he attended my wedding in Lagos, he used to leave in Uyo then and worked in a commercial bank then. As at then himself and Ronke were still courting. We were also neighbors in Urua Ikpa and as my husband and I moved to Ewet, Tunji followed shortly. We used run to and fro our houses and it was also at Urua Ikpa I met Ronke who has become a very good friend and sister today. There are too many memories we shared back then, my two children Daniel and Amanda were born before Tunji and Ronke and many times when he is coming into the house you will hear him hail my husband "my man". My hubby and I will miss you a great deal, however who can question God? Sun re o Tunji!
I met Tunji some years back on one of his visits to the US, he and my twin were colleagues but I never had the chance to meet him before I left the shores of Nigeria. During that visit, I took him out to dinner at a restaurant that one might consider average but what struck me at that time and has stayed with me ever since was one would have thought that I had taken Tunji to the poshest restaurant in town with the way he was so appreciative of the outing and how much he enjoyed the food. To me, that tells a lot about the character of the man and what he values. Every now and then, I will recollect the story to my brother and he will always respond that's Tunji for you... It's the relationship that mattered to him.
