Grandad, you've taken me through many adventures since as far back as I can remember when you used to pick me up and take me back to north wales on about ten different busses... all part of the adventure though! I remember when we used to walk down that big massive hill when you used to take me shopping, I got excited just going to the post office with you to pick up a news paper or whatever else it was you had to do before we went off to Caenarfon or Pwllheli , and then we would get back to the beuno you would have a pint or my and I'd be drinking shandy... I loved those days , so many memories!. I want to thank you for these times and the influence you had on me as a person and on life . Just a few simple words of wisdom was all it took for you to make me think of certain things or change my mind about something. I remember when we used to pass a small mountain and I used to say to you that I wanted to climb it, so one day we did , you took me up to the top of the mountain and the next day I was sore from head to toe! I was only about 10... but it was well worth it and it's just one of many memories that I will never forget! I wish we could of had a bit more time to make more memories but we all must pass, it's just part of the process of life. I'm just glad you had the chance to see your beautiful great grandaughter and on a few occasions infact. RIP Grandad Dennis, forever missed. XxX

My darling husband Dennis, was the truest and most wonderful man who ever entered my life, I love him with all my heart and always will. Even death cannot separate us.
To quote from poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning
"How do I Iove you?
Let me count the ways I love you with the breath ' smiles, tears of all my life, and if life should choose, I shall love you better after death”
We had our ups and downs, who doesn't? but through-out it all, our love prevailed.
Thank you with all my heart for letting me love you. And thank you, your ever loving wife and always thank you,
and thank you yet again.

Dad you showed me how the most valuable things in life are free. The beauty of nature and our surroundings, but most of all how important the family is, I really do get it now !! You always made an effort to get the family together right to the end. You will be in all of our hearts when there is a family occasion and you will never be forgotten, no doubt the topic of many conversation.
You always said you were not a brave man, you are the bravest man I ever met, I'm going to miss you to confide in. and of course to talk about the football.
Love you, you are forever with me xx

Dennis, my dearest cousin, will always be in my heart. He has been a constant in our family's life in the midst of never ending change. Not only was he there for my childhood, but also my adulthood after leaving England, always sending letters, drawings, phone calls, texts over almost 40 years. His voice and thoughts will be running through my head for the rest of my life. His influence on our children was huge and the love he showed them and interest in all they did will never be forgotten. He was taken away too soon, still had so much life left in him. Neil and I send all our love to Eileen, Tristan, Jo and all the family stay strong. xxxx

My grandad tought me as a child how to see the amazing things in the world!, even from Wales! Haha we found so many cool things up in the mountains and down on the shores of the beaches we walked on. And Iv never stopped exploring, I'll always have my grandad in my heart and take him with me wherever I go, I told him I'm going to hopefully see the northern lights in Iceland next week, and hopefully I do and he's with me, I love him so much and will miss him dearly. X
Always in my heart, I love you

Dennis' life in brief

December 14, 2015

Dennis was born in Hampstead in 1938, he was an only child to his mother 'Betty and Dad Joe'
He grew up in Highgate and went to a local catholic school. After Dennis left school he went to work at his uncle’s furrier business on Bond Street.
When he turned 18 he was called up for national service where he served with Para brigade and was posted to Cyprus for 3 years.
After he left the army he pursued some not too successful ventures, however he managed to pull his life together and ended up meeting the love of his life Eileen.
In 1967 they had a son Tristan.

During the 70’s they both worked at CBS records in Euston and spent the next few years making the most of their free time by travelling to Cornwall, Scotland and mid Wales. They had great adventures camping in random places such as field’s, woods and even once under a bridge where they were invaded by an army of slugs.

Dennis having a true love of nature and his surroundings taught Tristan all about the countryside on the numerous walks and treks that they went on.
As Dennis and Eileen had always preferred the country to London it seemed inevitable that they would move away from the city which is what they did and moved to North Wales in 1976.
They moved from London to what seemed one of the remotest spots in the country- a farmhouse up a mountain in the middle of nowhere! Dennis and Eileen never saw the need to drive or own a car in London, however moving to Wales did not inspire them to do so either!
They walked everywhere, up mountains and along beaches, Dennis would often dive into the freezing cold sea so he could get nearer to and attempt to communicate with the local seals by adopting what he perceived to be a seal sounding bark ! he convinced himself (and us) that they actually answered him.
He was loved by the locals and would always find time to chat with them if he met them on his numerous walks.
He was known by everyone and was one of the main village characters.

He loved Arsenal football club and went on a few occasions with Tristan to watch them play. Tristan and Dennis would exchange complimentary or angry texts during each match depending on the performance of the team, and result of the match.
When he became ill Tristan and his wife Jo moved Eileen and Dennis down to live with them in Epsom where Eileen has her new home.

Dennis was a true family man staying in touch with his cousin Jane in America and her family, and making every effort to see his son Tristan and daughter in law Jo, and his beloved grandchildren Michael, Jade and Millie and most recently his great- grand-daughter Amalie.

This was reciprocated when he was ill as everyone came to visit him and say their goodbyes no matter how far away they lived.

Dennis always denied he was a brave man but he spent his last days with dignity and courage. He died peacefully in his sleep holding Eileen’s hand.

He left an impression with everyone he met and will be dearly missed by all.

RIP 12 July 1938 – 17 November 2015
